Delete your account

Last updated October 20, 2026

You can delete your account yourself from inside the CARDREF app, in a few taps. Everything below explains what that removes, and what to do if you can no longer sign in.

1. Delete it from the app

Open CARDREF and go to Settings → Delete Account. The screen shows exactly what will be removed for your account, including the number of cards and records involved, before anything happens. You then type DELETE and enter your password to confirm.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. There is no grace period and no way for us to restore the data afterwards.

2. What gets removed depends on whether you own a shop

CARDREF accounts can own a shop or simply belong to someone else’s, and deletion behaves differently in each case.

3. Export anything you need first

Sales and trade records are business records. If you own the shop, deleting your account destroys them permanently, and we have no way to return them to you later. Export what you need from the app before you delete, particularly anything you rely on for bookkeeping or tax.

4. Printed labels stop working

The QR codes on labels you have already printed point at your shop’s public pages. After deletion those pages no longer exist, so scanning an old label shows a page-not-found rather than a card. The printed stickers themselves are unaffected and can be replaced or removed at your convenience.

5. If you cannot sign in

If you have lost access to your account and cannot use the in-app flow, email support@cardref.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will verify that you own the account before acting, which may mean asking you something only the account holder would know, and we complete verified requests within 30 days.

We will not act on a deletion request we cannot verify. That is deliberate: the same request from someone else would destroy your shop.

6. Backups

Deletion removes your data from the live service immediately. Our database also keeps encrypted point-in-time backups for 7 days on a rolling basis, so a copy can persist in those backups until it rotates out. Backups are not used to serve the app and are not searchable by us for ordinary purposes; they exist so the service can be recovered from a failure.

7. What is not deleted
